Sims 3 Demo

I have had a lot of people asking me where to get the Sims 3 Demo. I know that there are rumors about one but it seems that they are not true.

Unfortunately it appears that there is no current demo available to the public but EA did give out a few demos to select stores for them to demo to the public. I know this is bad news and I would be the first to post a Sims 3 Demo, but EA seems to have overlooked my notification :(

So I guess the choices are either to buy the complete version or borrow it from a friend.

Here is a taste of what you are missing ;~)

Company of Heroes and Artillery Bombardment

Artillery Guns Emplacement

I have been playing Company of Heroes for quite some time now and have used all of the various troops and equipment in mass. But it always seems I come back to fortifying an area to set up a cluster of 4 to 6 artillery guns to lay waste to an encampment in one go.

There is just something about the fall of artillery shells lightly raining down on the opponents camp and watching their once mighty force turn into nothing but a series of craters in the ground that is somehow fulfilling.

Getting an area secured can be a task at times and can cause the loss of the game if you are attacked before you artillery is in place. But if you manage to stay secluded and hidden from your foes until your artillery guns are set up you are almost guaranteed a win. With one mighty barrage you can wipe out most of an opponents base or an entire regiment of troops and tanks.

To start I usually try and secure as many resource points as possible while building an outlook post on them. This usually keeps the opponent busy trying to destroy the outlook post in order to take the resource point while I sneak up within range of their base looking for an area that has limited access. I then quickly build a machine gun turret blocking the entrance from any troops that may try and enter. At the same time I will have engineers building tank traps far enough away from my where I will build my artillery to keep the tanks out of range. By this time my resources have usually built up enough to where I can build 3 artillery guns. Once one gun is in place I can start lobbing shells at troops or tanks to get them scrambling while the rest of my guns are being built. Often the troops will be nearing my base and will concentrate on my machine guns trying to knock them out.
This is usually about the time I get my first 3 guns in place. I then carpet bomb the area near my base destroying the attacking troops while I start on building my next series of guns. Usually I have enough in resources to build at least 2 more giving me a total of 5 guns. If my base is not under attack or only lightly under attack you can rest assured that I have just secured the game as I now point all 5 guns at the opponents base.
If you have not seen 5 or more artillery guns striking at one time you are missing a thing of beauty. The graceful way that any massed troops gingerly fly through the air as if they have sprouted wings, the thunderous roar of multiple shells detonating at once (very loud on a good sound system), the new craters in the ground where once stood a series of buildings….all a thing of beauty. But the best is hearing the screams from the other room (if playing local network) as you totally demolish one opponent after another as they frantically try to get to your guns. But it is too late. By using one gun to constantly bombard the path to your guns very little ever gets through. After a couple of base bombardments there is little left except a few straggling troops that are quickly wiped out.
Artillery Bombardment After
I do admit that if you are located before you are ready all of the work and resources that you spent are wasted and you will most likely lose the game. But if you can avoid detection until you get at least 2 guns built you are most likely guaranteed success.

So if you haven’t tried specializing in artillery give it a try. Though hard to get set up at times it is worth the effort just to hear the thunder of the guns and seeing the devastation that can be made.

Actually I think a little mass destruction might be just what I need at the moment.

See you on the battle field.
